Bruise of the Year (B.O.T.Y)

Cricket consists of a rock hard ball that is hurled towards a batsman at great velocity, to whcih the batsman is supposed to hit with a thin piece of wood.  Sometimes however, it goes all wrong...

The B.O.T.Y award is intended to acclaim those who have placed their bodies on the line for Pigs Cricket glory.

Victim: M. Whitaker

Perpetrator: M. Clear

Location: Artarmon Reserve Nets, Sunday 13/08/2006

Victim's comments: This one was a real stinger. The delivery snuck passed my front leg and got me on the side of my protection-less left knee. Although not the biggest bruise in terms of surface area, I think it gets good marks for colour and shape. If you look closely, it has traveled about 6 inches from point of impact to the top of my calf.

Victim: J. Wong-See

Perpetrator: Andrew Price was batsmen but I prefer to blame Bucky and his pies

Location: Pigs vs NSCC - B2 Grade.

Victim's comments: Victims Comments: The bruise typifies the softness of the individual. The call was made within an hour of being hit while fielding in the point reigon that this would be a candidate for BOTY. By Monday morning I had concerns that the bruise which I had hoped for was not going to eventuate - there was only a slighy purplish tinge around the area of impact. But thank God by the end of Tuesday, a large formation of clotted blood enveloped the ankle reigon. By COB Wednesday, there was a solid rectangle measuring 10cm x 4.5cm of pure dark purple joy. This has well exceeded my expectations and a worthy contribution to BOTY.
